Hey ladies [and gents] + Happy Thursday! So as promised, today I want to finally start to open up to you about my summer style internship with Hilary Rushford + Dean Street Society!!! I don't even know where to begin, because in the last four months I feel like I have learned so much + made major strides in my style, my business, my confidence and in return have had the confidence to just do 'me' more//better than ever! But lets start with how I found Hilary in the first place, because every journey has a beginning.... My sweet friend Jennie use to tag me in Hilary's #StyleMe challenges on Instagram. I started following Hilary, and enjoyed looking at her pictures + reading her encouraging words! I am a gals- gal and love nothing more than a savvy [ahem, stylish] business woman, that knows how to follow her dreams. So, naturally I was interested when I saw Hilary post for a summer style internship [virtual, as she lives in Brooklyn, New York and I Atlanta, GA]! I am a teacher, therefore I have a solid two months "off" from work each summer. I had gotten my summer off to a bang, starting and completing numerous paintings [more than I had in years], even selling a few! I started to feel the urge//need to start taking this blogging//freelancing thing more seriously.
When I saw Hilary's post for an internship, she had also JUST released the video for her last Style&Styleability launch [the one you see above] I signed up for the videos [and honestly did a little vimeo stalking] and after watching the videos, I knew I had to at least apply for for the position. I mean, why not?! It was a match made in heaven! [wink] I may be a bit over zealous, but when she called me back she said "This isn't an interview, just like a conversation to make sure were on the same page about things!" I was completely giddy the whole rest of that day, because I knew I was about to learn sooo much about style but more importantly, I felt like I was about to be learning life skills that would help me have the confidence to grow into the woman I always pictured myself being and having the confidence to step into my dreams, or to at least walk confidently in the direction of them. : ) That internship has now turned into a partnership that I am absolutely thrilled to share with you all about. Watch the video above, and you will understand what I mean. Hilary will give you tips + tools to transform your wardrobe and help you figure out what to wear that makes you feel amazing! She made me realize I need to start 'shopping' my wardrobe more [that 80% -watch the video-] and simplify//streamline my style. It has made cleaning out my closet + getting ready for 'school' in the mornings sooo much easier. Hilary honestly is what has inspired my #CoffeeAndStyleFile [on Instagram] + #OnWednesdayWeWearArt post. Both personal style challenges of the sort to help me get out of my 'habit groves' of a BORING teacher wardrobe. Working can seem mundane at times, so no need for your wardrobe to be that way. Because when you look great, it translates and you feel great! I don't want to talk about the video too much more in this post, because I want you to watch it for yourself! But let's start a conversation! Let me know what you think and if you decide to sign up + start a new stylish journey for yourself! Click the video above, to sign up for the FREE video series through my link but after you do that, be sure to check out Dean Street Society's website for weekly style//monthly style tips + prompts!
