Pretty In Pink : The Hair Guide

Growing up I was never much of a pink gal, I always loved purple. But as I have gotten older it has grown on me. In the month of October it pops up more than ever, as it has been the chosen color for breast cancer awareness. SOO, today I will be giving you tips on how to create your own pretty in pink hair doo!

Pink hair dye doesn't contain a chemical developer- its actually just a stain. So NO matter what the bottle says, its actually only semi-permanate and will wash out in a week or so. UNLESS, you maintain//take care of it.  When having any non-natural hair color, if you want it to look good [and not discolored] it is going to be an investment with your time + money.

1. Bleach it first. Like white blonde. No yellowy-golden-orangeish blonde color. I say leave this step to a professional. It might be pricey, but you don't want to fry your hair, and pee color hair won't be covered up by pink [or any color for that matter] either. If you have to save money, don't save on this step. INVEST in professional. Save on the pink dye, and do that step yourself at home. [keep reading]

2. Use the right shampoo. I like to use a shampoo that is made for blondes. It should be purple in color. This cuts the brassiness out. I suggest One n Only Shiny Silver Conditioning Shampoo , this is what I am currently using.

3. Go to your local Sallys or beauty supply store to buy you own tube of pink hair dye to keep at home [Or if you only got the blonde done at the salon, get pink hair dye + do it at home].  Before you shampoo, sit with a little pink hair dye on your hair in the tub for 10 or so min. -once your hair is already pink, and you just want to maintain its color. I suggest doing this every 5 days or so.

4. Try washing your hair only every other day. Use dry shampoo, try my favorite Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shmapoo [I keep the travel size in my purse] + Use pink blush [yes, makeup- just use your blush brush to apply!] to help with the dark, oily roots in-between shampoos!

5. And for pink hair that will wash out in one day, try hair chalking! Heres how I did it for the Katy Perry Concert.
