#OnWednesdayWeWearArt : #Picasso

Hello!

Happy hump day + 1/2 way to the weekend. I hate that I am a person that 'lives' for the weekend, but it'd be a lie to say other wise. It's not that I don't like my job- it's just after working 40 + hours a week its nice to have the freedom to sleep in + do whatever your little heart desires!

Anywho, last week was my first week doing #OnWednesdayWeWearArt and we featured artist Frida Kahlo. I also gave you some visual inspiration on the artist Pablo Picasso for this week. If you missed the post check it out here. 

Picasso was known as the founder of Modern Art, and best known for being the leading influence in the Cubism art movement. His art//career spanned over seven decades and he went through many, many fazes. Where his body of work evolved from realistic muted colors, to more abstract + colorful compositions. 

For today's post I am inspired by Picasso's life{style} + the love we share for Dachshunds. When you look up pictures of Picasso he often has his shirt off, or is wearing stripes or a pattern of some sort. When I think of him, I always imagine him in that black + white striped t-shirt photo I have at the top. {OR as PIGasso from the book "When Pigasso met Mootise" a book I read to my students to introduce them to him.}

I love both of these photos below. The one on the left, where I have a slight grin on my face + the one on the right where Olive is poking her little head into the frame. I'm in my HAPPY place, painting in my {city} back yard with my doxie frans! {Although it was ENTIRELY too hot outside when we shot these photos- come on fall!} 

The candid shots, which I actually like {I'm kind of a fan of bad photography + silly faces}.

And for my art teacher friends {or friends with kids} out there, here is {another} one of my favorite children's books about Picasso's BFF, that I like to read to my students! Plus, this Picasso Head website for you to make your own Picasso to print out! 

Next week's inspiration is the body of work by Mark Rothko. Who was a color field//abstract expressionist artist. If that just sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to you, then just think: color blocking!
