Happy half way through the work week, AKA : Wednesday, AKA: The day you let art inspire your attire! It honestly does not even feel like Wednesday to me. I had Friday + Monday off from work and ever since, I have had my days confused! heh Anywho, this weeks inspiration for our #WednesdayWeWearArt post is Jeff Koons. The reason I chose him was because of his bright, colorful. playful works of art. He is a modern day pop artist, right there in the ball park with Andy Warhol. Jeff Koons is an American born artist known for his larger than life reproductions of trite objects [such as balloon or flower stuffed animals]. Like I said, Jeff Koons worked in a fashion similar to that of 60's pop artist, Andy Warhol. Including having his own studio [or as Warhol called it The Factory] where he creates his work in New York City. Both artist having several assistants [Koons with a regular 90-120ish] that work under them. He has developed a 'painting by numbers' type way of working with his assistants, where each assistant is assigned their own job in the production of the work of art. Viewers//critics are divided on their opinions about Koon's work. Some believe that he is a pioneer in art world, exploring meaning of art during a media saturated era. [Koons insist there is NO meaning behind his work, it just is what it is]. Did I mention his stuff sells for INSANE amounts of money. Like 33.7 million....yeah, I know ''Why didn't I think of making a giant balloon animal?!' I found this article online '9 Things You Could Buy For The Price of a Koons' - check it out! Jeff Koons was also the artist who did the cover for Lady GaGa's latest album, which I thought was pretty neat. I also have had the pleasure of seeing one of his pieces, a couple of years ago here in Atlanta. That is my Instagramed photo of it above.
Next weeks inspiration is Op art! [Your eyes + brain will be playing tricks on you!] |
