Hello + happy Wednesday! May I just say that life has been crazy busy lately. Busy in the best of ways possible, but exhausting none the less. I also have been working on new D.I.Y. post, but haven't gotten around to finishing up taking pictures//editing pictures//writing a post. So hold tight, they are coming- I promise! Any who, today's inspiration comes from artist Claude Monet, the father of French Impressionist Painting//Plein-Air Landscape Painting [a.k.a. : painting outside//responding to your environment]. Monet was determined to paint the French country side, and properly document it. This is why he worked in a method of painting the same scene multiple times in order to document the changing light//seasons. Today I am sharing with you a few of my favorite paintings from his lily series, that he painted late in his career at his home garden in Giverny [northern France]. See if you can tell the difference between times of day//seasons from painting to painting. In total, there were over 200 something lily paintings that Claude Monet completed through out his life time. He had a Japanese bridge over his lily pond, which he painted numerous of times [you can see one painting above] AND somehow, in the middle of Atlanta- without even trying, Chris and I were able to find a lily pond in Inman Park, with a bridge over it. SERENDIPITY!!! [ I love that word + movie by the way]. Also, did I mention that I painted this dress?! I've had it for years. I got it when I first had to start my student teaching observations and needed professional clothes [I think its shrunk since then]. I will be sharing how I spruced up my beige dress later this week in a D.I.Y. post! [ Get the look : blazer : Target || dress : D.I.Y. {soon to come} || shoes : ModCloth || necklace : Target || earrings : vintage // Photography by : Chris Burden <---***CHECK OUT HIS NEW SITE!!! ] Next weeks inspiration is a broad one, Pop Art! Look it up, get inspired + get your outfit ready! Remember to use the hashtag #OnWednesdayWeWearArt if you decide to play along! *Mwah! Psst! : Stay tuned tomorrow as I open up about my summer style internship with Hilary Rushford + Dean Street Society and how that internship has now turned into an opportunity + inspired me to start turning my blogging into a business!
