Happy FRYday! Round here, FRYdays are for french fries + girlfriends :) but before I introduce you to my latest girl crush, I want to make sure that you didn't miss the virtual art party challenge for the month of May! I posted a new calendar here + on my Instagram last night. Make sure you check out the NEW ARTY hard page to get your calendar with daily art journal props. Join the fun daily, or when you can! AND don't forget to tag a friend to invite to the PARTAYY too :) Okay...so I got to interview the o-so-witty and inspiring Karla, who forever will be Twerkstorian in my head. She is the creator of those cheeky Prada necklaces you may or may not have been seen ALL over Instagram. She is a so Cal girl, born and raised with a wicked since of humor and big dreams [that I HOPE she makes her reality!] Read my interview with her below to find out how she got into making her necklaces [and other quirky accessories] and see what she wants to be when she 'grows up' - I don't think you'll be surprise ;P and of course, check her out on Instagram here + here, and be sure to get yourself [or mom] a purrdy necklace! 1. How do you like your [french] fries [flavored &/or sauces &/or where from etc...]? I like my french fries to be endless,in a big basket with a few stray curly fries and zero guilt. I like them thick, thin, crispy, soft, seasoned, from random train station cafeterias and from the bottom of grease stained fast food bags.However- I do not like my french fries to be shared. You have been warned. 2. Would you rather live in the desert or in Antarctica? I'm a southern california girl, where winter is a short week in the middle of Januaray when the mercury dips below the 50 degree mark and everyone is "freezing". So you might assume I would prefer a climate more familar to what I am accustome to. Actually it's quite the opposite. I would prefer Antartica over the desert any day of the week! Cold weather means warm blankets, microwavble socks, indoor activities, probably some netlix binging and hiberating. Who wouldn't want that sort of comfort? 3. If you could have any super power for a day, what would it be? and what would you do with your new found power? If I had the ability just for one day to be able to "shape shift" ( like Mystique from X-men) it would drastically change the way I see the world. I'd probably start off my shape shifting by morphng into a house cat- chase some birds, take a nap on a window sill (normal cat activities). I'd also take advantge of this new found super power by trying my hand at being famous for the day. I'd always wondered what it would be like to be Gwen Stefani and have perfect platnium blonde hair and washboard abs. Finally, I would have to shift into a male body... just out of curiosity. 4. What lead you to creating your oh-so-cheeky necklaces? I could write a small novela about how I ended up with my etsy shop and creating my necklaces, but I'll just stick to the cliffnotes version because no one wants to read the sob stories. After I dropped out of graduate school I moved back to California. I didn't have a job, a car, money or a bedroom. I was in a super weird place with a lot of time on my hands and nothing to do. Long story short- I started making the "Prada" necklaces because I thought it was so funny to use the name of a high end brand with low brow craft materials. I started to get a lot of compliments from people about my necklace and I thought to myself, "Hey, people think its funny! and they like it." and then it kinda took off from there. 5. Where did you grow up? I grew up in the LA area, in a small city called Rosemead. I moved around a few times after that but I always have a special place in my heart for my hometown. 6. What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be on Saturday Night Live. Not much has changed. I still find myself daydreaming about this. I haven't given up just yet because I am stubborn. Pst! : Don't forget that you can can check out my past girl crushes over on this page!
