Sooo I can not believe that I am just now geting around to telling you guys about the Friendsgiving soiree that I have been working oh so very hard to plan these past few weeks! But this week is THE week, so let me spill the beans and share what I've been up to.
A couple of months ago Tiny Prints reached out to me about collaborating on some projects together. Already, [in my head] I had been throwing around the idea of hosting a painting party/workshop event around the holidays- for local blogger, pr/marketting/creative/entrepreneur gals. [Just a reason to get together with other like minded ladies!] Because of the timing, my last name [Pilgrim] and the name of my blog- it only made sense for me to host a Friendsgiving. Once I checked out Tiny Prints' invites, and other goodies [like note pads/books + coffee mugs + home decor] I knew that a Friendsgiving party would make for the perfect collaboration!
I also knew that if I was going to get to throw this awesome party + give away a SWEET swag bag, that I could use this as an opprotunity to pour back into our community. All the while having fun + networking with other ladies in Atlanta! I did my research and pretty quickly found two organizations that I wanted us to lean into this holiday season.
At many Friendsgivings each guest bring a dish to share with everyone, however thanks to our friends at Greenbox Worldwide our catering will be taken care of. So instead, we are asking our guest to support A Touch of Warmth + Operation Christmas Child, by bringing blankets and [small] toys to donate.
A Touch Of Warmth is a nonprofit corporation ran by an eleven year old young lady! I found her on [go figure] Instagram and was completely blown away! For years [yes, years!] now, she has been collecting blankets to pass on to those in rough times. I am just amazed how, at such a young age she has already touched and improved the lives of many! What a sweet girl. Lets help her meet her goal this holiday season and spread the warmth + cheer to those in need this winter, right here in Atlanta. If your attending Friendsgiving be sure to bring a blanket [or 2 - 3!] to donate, and if you will be celebrating with us virutally then please email me at Courtney@myfriendcourt.com and I can get you the information you need to help support the cause!
Growing up, I was apart of an organization called 'Girls in Action' [a Girls Scout//club of sorts- but for church] and every Christmas [or actually, around Halloween] we would start to pack + decorate shoe boxes full of goodies to send over seas with Operation Christmas Child. Lo and behold, Operation Christmas Child is very much so still in operation and growing! I thought it would be a fun activity for us gals to pack + decorate boxes at Friendsgiving. We will be getting our boxes from Passion City Church. Each box needs to be pack full of toys/crafts + include a letter & label [and maybe some art!] + $7 dollars to send the box over seas. [Now and days] You can track your box to find out where it ends up!
I am also SO excited to annouce that Gelly Roll , the creator of the best gel pens ever- are supporting us and sending gels pens for each guests swag bags, as well as their Cray-Pas oil astels to include in the boxes for the kids! How awesome, right?! I am soo pumped!
I have also got to tell you about my amazing h u s t l e r of a friend Melanie + her one WOman show- Golda Kombucha Tea, as she will be supporting Friendsgiving and providing us ladies with some refreshing + healthy tea! She will also be attending the event, so if you will too- pick her brain! We met years ago in a printmaking class in college, and through her being a PR guru + us being savy business gals we have reconnected again. She has REALLY encouraged me in my blogging endeavors! AND Melanie REALLY REALLY knows what she's doing. Check out her most recent feature [about a week ago] on 11 Alive News!
I will be doing a post after Friendsgiving that will be highlighting all the different vendors that have contributed to our swag bag [which I hand screen printed btw- D.I.Y. to come]- I just can't believe how awesome this bag is!
Here are a few pictures I have shared so far on Instagram. Follow along with the fun the day of [THIS SUNDAY!] using th hastag #MFCfriendsgiving! [I was trying to think of another hashtag we could use. If you have an idea, leave it in the comments!]
Wheeeww! That was a big post! Check out this Pinterest board to see where I am pulling my inspiration from for this party.
