Hello Friends + Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. I sure did- and even managed to get some D.I.Y. projects done! So I am here to share one of them with you today! I guess I am on some kind of shoe 'kick' because I have another shoe makeover for you. I got these boots about 4 or 5 years ago on a trip to NYC. I used to wear them all the time, but could count on one hand how many times I have worn them in the past year or so. So I decided it was time to toss, or breath some new life into them. I painted the toes of the boots with white acyrlic paint as a primer. I let it dry, painted it the mint green color and sealed it with mode-podge. As for the the cute pom-poms... You'll need 2 pieces of cardboard, cut down into circles that are the same size. The bigger the circle- the bigger the pom-pom. You will need to turn the circles into doughnut shapes. You do not want to make the inner circle too big, but if its too small you wont be able to fit the yarn through. Once you have your doughnut shape cut, you just weave the yarn around and around until you have it covered completely. The more yarn you use, the bigger your pom-pom! [The yarn I used was multi-colored.] Cut the yarn, right on the edge of the doughnut. Then you will slip a sting in between the two doughnut sides. This can get tricky because the [outside] strings have already been cut, and are now loose in the center. You do not want to pull them through the center until you have secured them in place with that center string. I tried to take alot of up close pictures for yuh! Tah-Dah!!! Soo fortunately, the boots have little snaps on the heels of them, so I was able to snap the pom-poms on. If yuh arn't in the same boat as me, then just buy some clips and hot glue it to the pom-poms and clip them on to your shoes.
These pom-poms would also be cute on your shoelaces at your toes! |
