Hello Friends!

Today I am here to share with you my 'I like to Arty Hard' T-shirt! I can not tell you how much I love this shirt!!! When I was making it- I was thinking 'man, I love this!' and wondering if anyone else would get it/like it as much as I do...you just really never know. I have worn it out in public a few times [already] and everytime people have asked where I got it! I was thinking I should turn this into a shirt to sell! Soooo stay tuned, I will be selling these soon!

As for the one in this picture though, I used a baseball style tee that is American Eagle. But I actually picked it up from Marshalls for eight bucks! The material is super soft, the fit is great AND I got a great deal on it!

What You Will Need :

  • T-shirt [pre-washed]
  • Fabric oil pastels, crayons or markers
  • Iron + scrap paper
  • pencil + sharpie marker

What You Will Do :

  • I sketched out my design on a scrap sheet of computer paper. I knew I wanted it to be super simple- as I have used these oil pastels for fabric before and the aren't the easy to manipulate the way you can on paper. So simple is best!
  • You can use a pencil to sketch your design onto your shirt [this is what I did], or you can just go for it! Remember, your pencil line is much skinnier than the oil pastel/crayon/marker that you are using on the final design.
  • Apply your design to the shirt in a thick, saturated manner. Pull the shirt tight with your non-dominate hand as you draw to help with the application.
  • Once your done drawing out your design, you want to use an iron to seal it into the shirt with heat. Follow the directions on the package of your drawing utensils, but- I put my iron on the lowest setting. I inserted at sheet of paper between my design and the iron [to protect the design and the iron too] and rubbed it back and forth arcoss my design for about 45 seconds.
  • I used a sharpie to outline my letters and add a line design.

Tips :

  • If your using a white or light colored shirt, you can sketch your design out in black, and place it underneath your shirt to see through and trace your design onto the front of your shirt in steps 1-2.
  • Stretch your shirt over card board or a hard drawing board to help when drawing the design on the shirt.
  • Use a sharpie to clean up your lines and/or add detailed designs.
  • Always wash your shirt inside out + hang to dry to make your design last + stay vibrant!

I hope you like it! And if you decide to make one yourself- be sure to use the hashtag #ILiketoArtyHard so I can see your creations!

Peace + Love + D.I.Y. !!!
