Hi Friends! So I am here for the LONG over due classroom tour. I spent like a whole extra hour or two after school taking pictures on my digital camera, only to get home to a 'corrupted' sd card! URG! So I just re-took them on the iPhone, works just as well! I will do my best to explain the pics through out the post, as always- let me know if you have any ?'s This is what the students see as they enter my room. In previous years I had it cover in metallic silver paper [like wall paper] but it was worn out and needed to go. I am thinking of painting it some how. The views from desk/storage closets. As you can see, nearly everything in my classroom is color coded. The tables, chairs, supplies, even stickers on the floor where to line up so there are no 'fights' over that non-sense. The black shelf is where I organize supplies/handouts for the week- by grade level. The cream shelf are supplies that the students can use freely through out class or during free time. [Extra/old supplies]. I keep class rosters, seating charts, and lesson plans on the clip boards- organized by grade level. I list the standards taught that week underneath the clip boards and then post my teacher example at the bottom. I put the lines on the floor to [A] teach pre-k + Kdg about lines and [B] that is where I have the pre-k -2nd grade come in and take a seat at the beginning of class. See the stickers on the floor to line up?! hehe I'm kinda strict about some things- but it makes for an orderly and pleasant classroom for everyone! And 'transition times' always seem to be the trickiest at my school. So I have done everything I can to make these transitions smooth for every body! Even color coding cleaning supplies :) One for each table. You can get everything you need to do this at the dollar store and not even spend $10. WORTH IT! Mona Lisa is ALWAYS watching us. ;P and I sit at the front table during class, and will choose 1 student to sit with me by picking a stick. My desk and that door opens up to the court yard. and my messy storage closets below. :D This is the stool the student gets to sit on at the front of the class, with me. I call it the mystery student. They are chosen the week prior and have to have excellent behavior. I spy on them the whole class and then tell them at the end that they were my mystery student and get to sit at the front table and make art with me next class. [On my role, each student has a number by their name. I highlight the student once the are chosen so I won't choose them twice.] Whew! That was ALOT! :D Hope you enjoyed!!!
