Over the last few days I spent 2 full days in my pajamas, and one day at the spa with my mom. Not to say I was being (completely) lazy though, I actually got ALOT of work and planning done and even some painting too! So I am feeling very accomplished. Which is good, because I was kind of starting to get a bit stressed out knowing I was going back to school this up coming Monday and I hadn't done any pre-planning over the break and hadn't finished finalizing and posting my student's grades. So I got tunnel vision, and got it done- and then some too!
Enough about work though, blah blah blah!... This year one thing I want to shift more of my energy to is my personal art work and developing my own creative self. This means getting into the daily habit of art making and using my creative brain for things other than just work or making money! So, over the past couple of days I spent some time painting and playing with different color pallets. I love, love, love working with color (if you haven't noticed). So when I don't know what I want to paint, or just don't feel like doing something that I am going to have to think too much about, or concentrate too much on- I start paint doodling! Essentially just mark making with the brush, experimenting with different brushes, strokes, etc...I usually pick a handful of colors- as even numbers are boring, and its too hard to stick to just a few. Some times it turns out to be a complete disaster and thats okay! I always just do this in a sketch pad or on some type of cheaper paper. I once transferred one of my painting patterns like this onto a pair of pants.
I also started a painting of a jar of olives :) Yes, I will also be doing a jar of pickles! hehe. I have the underpainting of one other painting done as well- but don't want to show it, as it is a gift for someone.
And for those who maybe interested- the bright fuchsia color in both paintings is Pantone's Radiant Orchid -2014's color of the year. You can pick up a sample of it from lowes for just a few bucks, that is what all of this paint is. I buy a few when ever I am there to add to my collection of colors.
Today Tricia and I met up for coffee to catch up, as she has been away over the holidays and most importantly to start our FRENCH LESSONS together! I am sooo excited. I started with unit 1 right away, and the next thing I did was download a 1960's French music greatest hits list! If you are interested in the list, just find me on spotify!
Chris & I's b-days are 2 days a part and a month away- and we will both be celebrating 25 this year! We are planning a Mad Men themed cocktail party to celebrate! So I leave you with this You Tube video song " Zou Bisou Bisou," originally made famous by Gillian Hills . I actually like Gillian Hills version and music video better, so click on the link and watch it too and get this little tune stuck in your head ALL DAY LONG. :)
