W E S T E L M, folks! I can not believe that I/anyone will be able to walk into West Elm at Ponce City Market Nov 4th-6th and see my work on display! It of course, will also be for sale too! Ekkk!!!! On Friday night, November 4th- will be the opening/Meet the Artist night from 6-9pm at the West Elm at Ponce City Market! Tap Room will be serving up drinks for you and there will be some goodies too. I am so trilled for this opportunity and hope to see friends + family and lots of new faces Friday night! The event is (of course free) but if your planning on attending please RSVP here : https://www.eventbrite.com/e/west-elm-ponce-city-market-presents-meet-the-artists-tickets-28894142157#tickets so that we can plan accordingly Happy Halloween, Folks! I hope everyone has had a fun + festive Halloween thus far and that you have a fun time out trick-o-treatin' if thats what your plans are for the evening. BUT if you are like me (an old fart) maybe you're staying in watching scary movies, reading tarrot cards and painting pumpkins! (Now, thats my kinda night!) Today I have teamed up with the Royal Brush to create some Pretty Painted Pumpkins in my signature colorful style. Painting pumpkins is a great alternative to carving pumpkins. Working with kids for so many years I learned that some kids aren't as into carving pumpkins as you'd think they would be. If you have ever carved a pumpkin before, then you know how hard, frustrating and messy it can quickly become. So If you find yourself in the category of people who would rather not deal with the hassle- I suggest investing into some acrylic paints and get to paintin'! You still have got to be careful with your mess, as acrylics paints are permeant (you don't want it to wash off your pumpkin!) so don't go slinging paint everywhere :P I suggest first priming your pumpkin with white paint. This will help (1.) the paint stick to the pumpkin better and (2.) make all the colors you use really POP! After you prime your pumpkin, let it dry in between layers before you start your next layer of paint. You can choose to paint faces on your pumpkin, decorate them as characters or like myself, just play with the paints/colors and have fun making your mark on the world (err...pumpkin)! [full disclaimer : I am an ambassador for The Royal Brush brand- but have used their products for years, even back in my teaching days in my classroom. I would never write about//endorse brands + products I don't genuinely stand by].
Hey guys! I have been putting this post together for weeks, so maybe today I will actually finish it! ***ugh! AND I S*** you not, when I got all done writing this post, the webpage all of a sudden closed and of course, nothing was saved. whomp whomp! Maybe it was a sign that what I wrote sucked...or that I should not be lazy and pre-write post in a word doc. Any who, let me remember what I wrote… You may recall a little bit back me posting that I was looking at hiring a couple of interns to help me out with all things My Friend Court and StudiOH, Shoppe! Well I am so thankful that I did! When I first read Kasey’s email and watched the video she sent me I knew she would be a perfect fit for the job! I still wanted to meet with her in person for coffee- but I was pretty confident she was the one! So let me finally introduce you to KASEY aka Kase-facceee! She is an EXTREMELY talented and ambitious gal in her sophomore year at Georgia State (where I went, many moons ago) who coincidentally enough- is a Delta Zeta (which was my sorority too). So right off the bat, we had a good connection and a lot in common! Kasey has already been such a huge help + team player and I am so proud -LUCKY- to have her on the “squad” :P [clearly things have gotten 'cooler' as far as fashion goes...why is my shirt so small?!] WAYYY long ago (before this blog even- but here too) I used to do a series called 5 things, where I would just share 5 random things- be it thoughts, inspiration, whatever! So I asked Kasey to share 5 random things about herself with us, so that you all can get to know her. You will be seeing her (Kase)face out at events (you may have met her at the W hotel event a couple a weeks ago), on social and in blog posts. 5 things :Meet your new friend KASEY :) [and go follow her on Insta here] : 1) I've been drawing and painting since I was 4 2) I am legally blind in my left eye 3) I'm a pro at singing the ABCs backwards 4) I have two cats 5) If you rearrange the letters in my last name it spells "loser" ***but shes not a loser at all :P just super fun facts! Hehe Well folks, I have loved getting to know Kasey and I know you will too! Peace out! Psst! : We're still looking for the right gal to join us and help out with the marketing//social media. If you are interested in an internship this fall, check out this post and apply (just ignore the previous date! :P )
