Here are a pair of heels that I did a little make over on a few weeks ago. They are a pair of Calvin Klein heels that I got a year ago to wear in Tricia's wedding. I haven't worn them since. I meant to give them away a while ago but it never happened and this summer I got inspired to do something with them. The heel is about 4 inches high- so they aren't really conducive to my everyday lifestyle but will be fun to wear on special occasions! I haven't decided if they are cute little mice that I have painted on , or if they are cute little kitty-cats. Either way- super cute! 
 
Steps:
(1.) I used black and pink acrylic paint to paint on the ears, eyes, nose & whiskers and then sealed it with Modge-podge. 

(2.) Then I painted a layer of modge-podge (very carefully) onto the heel/sole of my shoe and sprinkled on the black glitter. (Make sure your face part is completely dry before doing this step or you will ruin it with glitter.)

(3.) After the heel is completely coated with glitter, then add another layer of modge-podge. This step can be tricky. I suggest applying the top layer of modge-podge with a very thick coat and avoid pressing down with your brush when applying. You do not want the glitter to smear or come off. This step is sealing the glitter to your shoe, so it wont all fall off when you take a step.

(4.) Once its completely dry, you can apply another coat of mode-podge or repeat the above step completely if you think you missed a spot with the glitter. 

Let the shoes dry over night and they are ready to wear!!!  Do not over think this project if it is something you like. If you can draw triangles, circles and straight lines, you can easily do this project. Keep it simple, you can do it! Even if your one of those folks who say "I don't have an artistic bone in my body"! 

Keep in mind, that using this method of modge-podge and glitter you can apply glitter to just about anything! However, modge-podge is a water based product (kid friendly) so if you let it get soaked in water, it will just start dissolving (like glue). For a more permeant solution try a lacquer, but if you choose this route, make sure you do it outside in a well ventilated area. 

So here is a look at all of the outfits I wore to work last week. We had Monday off- which was spent in yoga pants...so thats why there is only 4 outfits. My sweet, sweet, photographer boyfriend (Chris Burden) took these images for me out on our patio- which is why the pups sneaked in a few of the pics. (They are used to getting all the attention)! For those of you who do not know- I am an elementary school art teacher. Last week was pre-planing, so we were able to wear jeans and dress casually. 

So I just wanted to do a quick up date... My last week before going back to school I had the pleasure of spending a long weekend (5 days) taking care of my dearest, littlest friends Caitlyn and Aidan. Here are a few pictures of the fun we had!
