Hello!
As I am day dreaming about my next vacation [once the travel bug gets you, the itch to go doesn't stop!] and looooonging for the beach, I figured it was about time that I share my weekend in Puerto Rico with you. We went back in March for a Thursday through Monday getaway with our good friends Brian and Brittany. We spent an entire day in Old San Juan, a day in the rainforest + kayaking and a day on the beach. Remember, a few post back I mentioned getting my new fuji camera and learning how to shoot manual all over again (its really been since college) but this trip was great practice and I really love what I got! It was also the first time I got to try out the Go-Pro, which I also had SO much fun with. However, I still don't really know how to edit video...so we will have to wait to see that stuff! hehe Hey y'all! Once again, it has been a while...my bad! I truly don't know what it is. I have completely lost my blogging grove. I think it has a lot to do with how burnt out I got in teaching/life by the end of last year and even though all of that seems like a million years behind me....and I am in such a healthier and happier place- I still think I'm really struggling to find myself again. And frankly, figure out what I'm doing with my life. HAH. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT COMPLAINING at all. I LOVE this very sweet spot in time I have found myself in, right now. But I kinda feel more 'lost' than ever- yet perfectly at peace with the 'not really knowing whats going on/whats next'. Teaching was such a solid career. I had a very set schedule and a pretty laid out path to retirement. However, I quite literally burnt that bridge walking away from a contract in the middle of the school year and now I feel like a grocery bag floating in the air. More so now, than I ever did after college or highschool. I have a new job (in marketing) that I am enjoying and provides me with A LOT more down time, so I have had A LOT more time to do all the things I love to do. Like lots of art making and traveling! 2016 has been a reallllly crazy year and an oh so very busy one! I hope to get back in my grove and do more blog post moving forward, but I feel like its been so long and SO much has happened since the last post that I need to do this post to quickly catch you up! So below you will find some of my favorite pics from the last couple months, as well as being caught up on what I have been doing all this time, enjoy! I have been working A LOT in my studiOH this whole year and it has been the most amazing thing. I CAN NOT wait until the day comes that I get to spend EVERYDAY in my studiOH painting and creating #cantwait !!!! I have been working VERY hard at making new products for my shoppe and even redesigned my StudiOH, Shoppe! logo- what do y'all think? I got into painting my abstract paintings, prints + patterns onto leather, as at my new job we make leather journals/sketchbooks/books and it has opened up a whole new world for me! I have been painting on my purses, shoes, etc. for years- but now I have taught myself how to make my own and I am LOVING IT! I'll do a post on all my leather making soon enough :) retro bag c/o : Sun Jellies Chris and I went to Puerto Rico in March with another couple that we have been friends with since high school. The weather was a little cooler than we thought it would be and it rained a lot. But we of course made the most of it and had a blast! I will do a whole post about that trip, cause we did a lot of adventurous stuff- that you'll need to add to your bucket list, for sure! What the what?!?! :D In March I got a corner feature in the 'New + Next' section of Jezebel Magazine. Such a cool experience that I am oh so very thankful for! First time seeing myself + my art in a magazine and its definitely awesome to be recognized! In April, I opened up a booth at Paris on Ponce to sell my paintings, pillows, prints, mugs, leather clutches, t-shirts etc. Another really cool opportunity, that I am so thankful that I got to be included in. They started a POP shop that will be curated with different local makers each month. My booth did pretty well last month (thank you to everyone who swung by and got something!) so I will have my booth up for at least one more month, yay!!!! I will be restocking with new items this week, so be sure to pass through and check it out! Right after setting up my booth at Paris on Ponce, Chris and I hopped on a plane to Iceland! and oh boy- that was a trip of a life time. I see why so many people want to visit. Yes, it is insanely cold- but the views are insanely breath taking and you will feel a peace and quite like you've never experienced before, out there. I will for sure be doing a blog post or two about that trip- pretty much breaking down each day for you. Chris and I will definitely be returning to Iceland as on our trip.... on April 14th, we got engaged!!!!!! :D We are soo soo happy about our engagement and I feel like the luckiest gal in the world, to have a man that loves me so much and constantly does all that he can to show me and make me feel loved + valued! We aren't in a super huge rush to start planing, but I'm sure I will be posting about all the wedding stuff here too! Also, at the end of April I launched a candle collaboration with the wonderful gals over at Candelles. These are 100% soy candles with labels + scents designed by moi!
Whew! It was a jammed packed + super fun couple of months! I hope you enjoyed catching up, be back soon! |
