Hey Gals! 1. How do you like your [french] fries [flavored &/or sauces &/or where from etc...]? I can't imagine eating fries without ketchup, so that's a must! But I also don't mind dipping them in a Wendy's Frosty! The best fries, in my opinion, are at Dairy Queen! 2. What is your favorite color crayon? Pink Flamingo, naturally. 3. Would you rather have glitter stuck your hands [& fingers] for the rest of your life [and I mean fully covered]? OR only be able to listen to the same [one] song for the rest of your life? Bring on the glitter! Jazz hands aren't so bad! 4. If you could only have a wardrobe from one decade, which would it be? Oh, why is this the hardest question of my life? I gotta go with the 1970's (although 1980's prints are quickly growing on me) I just can't resist the fringe, the florals and the flare! Give it to me! 5. Since your a FL gal & spring is just arround the corner, do you perfer sandals, flip-flops or jellies as your go to? Glitter jellies! I have a pair and they're perfect for beach livin'. Brush of the sand, shake off the water and they're good as new. 6. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I can't believe i'm about to tell you this, but I specifically remember telling my parents I wanted to be a funeral director so I could see what dead people looked like and put makeup on them. I swear I am not as creepy as that sounds. Luckily, that only lasted for one day and I replaced it with wanting to be a news anchor. Hope you gals love my crush as much as I do! If so, make sure you show her some love on insta + her blog! Psst! :
Hi yuh Friends! If you are a hot mess express like myself, then if things don't have a place, chances are- they may, or may not get lost! heh. This is the case with my photographs from my Fuji Instax camera. I find these phots all over the place, and usually in the bottom of a purse somewhere. Taking 40+ insta pictures while in Brazil, I wanted to make sure that when I got back, I had a safe place to keep all of these pictures. Over Christmas time I bought a couple of new mugs from Starbucks and they came in these cute little red boxes. I saved both of them, as I figured they'd make great storage. When I got back from Brazil, this is where I put my photos + the money I had saved. I decided my box needed a makeover though. Follow the pictures below to see how I made it! ***Remember, if you make one of my D.I.Y.'s or you make one that you think I'd love, tag your photo on Instagram with #iliketoARThard so that I can see it! Steps : 1. First I primed my box with flat white acrylic paint. 2. After the white paint was dried, I used the acrylic paints to paint the box to look like the A Beautiful Mess App logo 3. Then I used mode-podge to add glitter to the center of the camera. 4. Then I added modged-podge to all of the outside of the box. 5. I traced the box onto the silver glitter paper, to line the inside of the box. The paper I used was peal + stick, so no glue necessary. Once everything dries, your done! I am soo happy with how mine turned out : ) ***Tip : Only add modge-podge to the center of the camera/the parts that you want the glitter one first. Sprinkle glitter. Then add a layer of modge-podge on top of the glitter. Let it dry. This will set the glitter in place, and stop you from spreading the glitter everywhere....unless thats what you want! ;-p Psst! : Don't forget to use the code myfriendcourt15 with Casetify to get 15% off your cell phone case order with them, you have until March 1st!
Hi friends! Happy Wednesday + happy hump day + happy snow day + happy we wear art inspired outfits day! hehe Yes friends, you heard right- this teacher gal is writing this post from the comforts of her home, as we are have a [no-snow] snow day haha [these things happen in the south- we scared of the potential white stuff falling from the sky!] :) And don't worry. You are not looking at your screen through purple tinted sunnies, I am just taking a page from Purplicious' book and wearing all purple! That is, because- this weeks prompt for #OWWWA is monochromatic. Now if you aren't familiar with that term, essentially it is when you are using [or in our case- wearing] a one color- color scheme. Using a monochromatic approach to styling your outfit is a good way to ensure that you are matching! I actually am wearing a black and white striped dress underneath this purple coat- however, we did not snap any photos of that :/ -sorry! I do this often. Wear black + white and then pair it with one color, to accessorize with. It is a really simple way to spice up your outfits + make a statement. In todays outfit, I paired it with my favorite shade of purple/orchid colored tights and lavender shoes. Since I threw on the blue necklace, I thought my blue shoes would be fun too & matched this wall. Which is like an optical illusion- it appears purple but is actually pink + blue stripes. Which shoes do you like it better with, the purple or blue? ...I think I like the blue better, but that kinda throws my monochromatic color scheme out the window, huh?! hah If you are nervous about trying a monochromatic outfit, check out this Pinterest board I created to get inspired! I pinned many outfits to help you get the ideas flowing. Try choosing a color you know that you already have a lot of. Layer an outfit in different shades of red + pink, or even browns + tans if thats what you have. Or start with a nuetral colored dress and pair with monochromatic accessories. Make the trend work for you! and most importantly- Have fun! Do not let fashion trends + expressing yourself be intimidating, have fun with them! If you are truly having fun in your clothes/outfit- no one is going to care so much about what it is that your actually wearing. Your smile, your personailty and the glow that you raidiate, from the feeling you get, from what you are wearing- will beam through your clothes and become contagious. They will want to compliment you on your outfit [and maybe not even know why], because they can tell that you feel great in it! Would they wear it themselves? Maybe not, but WHO CARES?!?!- they aren't YOU!!! It is YOUR body, so YOU need to wear something that will make YOU feel great! If greatness is what you feel, it is what you will show. If greatness is what you show, it is what you will give. If greatness is what you give people, the world, the universe, then greatness is what people, the world, the universe is going to give back to you! Its all connected people. Its not about being shallow, or being a follower and going along with fashion trends. Its about loving yourself and taking care of yourself. Social media can make this hard AND easy. The pressure to keep up with trends can get to you and you don't even know why. You just know everyone is on this same trend, and it just makes you feel so uncomfortable in your skin when you tried it. Don't fret. Make what trends you can work for YOU and find what clothes make YOU feel great, be it on 'trend' or not and it wont matter! Okay, and thats my fashion advice for the day- from your self-proclaimed fashionita virtual friend ;-P and ONE more monochromatic picture, becuase GREEN is actually my favorite color and this picture just makes me soo happy! p l e a s e do not forget to tag you art inspired outfits with #OnWednesdaysWeWearArt on Instagram. or That you can use one of the buttons below on your own blog, to help us encourage others to let art inspired them as they stand in front of their wardrobe each day!!! or If you make a blog post about your art inspired outfit, be sure to link up with us below + comment on others playing along! Hi Frans! If your like me, then you love a good disco ball to bring a little sparkle to your life. However, they can be pricy and hard to come by! I managed to pick up a few small disco balls from Party City, but that is all I could find. I didn't want to spend the money to buy + ship one, so I made it! For Galentines day, my friends over at Part Pail sent me some goodies, and it in were these 2 white paper lanterns. I knew they would be perfect to make me a disco ball! So I ran to Michaels and picked up the silver, foam, glittery sheets with a sticky back, for 99 cents each....AND thats all you need! Follow the pictures below to see how easy + simple this D.I.Y. is! First, I cut the foam sheets into about 1/2 inch strips, then cut the strips into about 1/2 squares. I used 4 sheets of sticky foam paper total. Then I got to peelin' and stickin' ! [not gonna lie, this part was tedious]. And viola! you got yo' self a disco ball and for under $10!!! Also, I made these mini disco balls using Styrofoam balls + glitter + modge-podge. On the bigger disco balls, you probably notice that I covered one of them with the glittery foam squares, then other one I just used modge-podge and glitter. If I were to start this over, or do it again- I would use a black lantern rather than white. BUT I truthfully like the one I made with glitter the most. If you gals ever try one of my D.I.Y.'s/art projects OR if you make one of your own that you think I'd love, tag it with the hashtag #iliketoARTYhard and I will feature my most favorite ones on my Instagram feed!
Peace, love + D.I.Y. |
