Hello! As I am day dreaming about my next vacation [once the travel bug gets you, the itch to go doesn't stop!] and looooonging for the beach, I figured it was about time that I share my weekend in Puerto Rico with you. We went back in March for a Thursday through Monday getaway with our good friends Brian and Brittany. We spent an entire day in Old San Juan, a day in the rainforest + kayaking and a day on the beach. Remember, a few post back I mentioned getting my new fuji camera and learning how to shoot manual all over again (its really been since college) but this trip was great practice and I really love what I got! It was also the first time I got to try out the Go-Pro, which I also had SO much fun with. However, I still don't really know how to edit video...so we will have to wait to see that stuff! hehe The day we spent in Old San Juan, we mostly just roamed the streets and looked around. We did visit Castillo San Felipe Del Morro which was a fort built in the 1700's to protect the city. It was pretty cool and kinda creepy with all the under ground tunnels and dungeons. But OH MY GOSH, I wish I could remember the name of this random little restaurant we went to- because I had the best beans and rice I've ever had in my life. I know it sounds so simple but all four of us agreed! I'd rather drink from a pineapple than a coconut, any day! What about you? How freaking cute is this bathing suit c/o of : Kortni Jeane || photo by : Chris Burden Our day at the beach was nice but cut short by rain and then kinda chilly. We unfortunately didn't have the best weather [after that first day] and got rained on a lot. The four of us made the most of it but missed out on a boat we had rented out to this other island. So we just had fun at the resort and enjoyed the hot tub with some drinks instead! We spent Saturday hiking through the El Yunque Rain Forest...which in a very 'authentic' way-it rained the entire time. We were soaking wet and it was only about 68 degrees out, also in the shade- so it was cold. By the time we got to the waterfall we were hiking to see... even though the water was freezing- we figured we might as well get in. So we did, for a split second! haha After that, we had picked up a lunch to take with us and then drove a little further out to go kayaking in the Bioluminescent Bay. Which I highly recommend doing and if you don't know about it, basically its a bay that 'glows' at night because of the algae in it. Right now, because the levels are low, it wasn't as visible as normal- but you could still 100% see it glowing...just not how it looks in the pictures. When we kayaked out, it was still light out however, on the way back in was pitch black in the bay. It was like your eyes never fully adjusted and you had to rely on other senses. Following the flow of the water + our instructors voice + tiny blinking light in front of you. BUT SO MUCH FUN! and great couples therapy, as it makes you work together or you might tip over! heh :P Cheers to a great vacation! I hope you enjoyed the pictures :) Puerto Rico is a place we will for sure go back to [we already have plans] we loved it so much and the flight cost + length isn't bad at all! Psst! : Have you ever visited Puerto Rico or are you from there? Where should we go next/what should we do?!
